Nutrigenomics consortium The Nutrigenomics Consortium focuses on diet-related metabolic stress, the early and reversible phase of metabolic syndrome (MSX). The ultimate aim is to study the potentials of dietary interventions for the prevention of MSX, using a combination of molecular nutrition research with state-of-the-art genomics research. The effects of nutrition on health and disease can not be understood without a profound understanding of how nutrients act at a molecular and genetic level. The Nutrigenomics Consortium will combine molecular nutrition research with state-of-the-art genomics tools to obtain novel insights into the events unfolding during the development of metabolic stress. Early detection by using validated molecular biomarkers and adequate treatment of metabolic stress are considered of utmost importance to prevent metabolic syndrome and its severe clinical consequences. The Nutrigenomics Consortium is a collaboration of members (Wageningen University, Maastricht University, NIZO, TNO) of the Wageningen Centre for Food Sciences (WCFS) and the Centre for Medical Systems Biology (CMSB).
